Getting error while running a custom SSRS report in Dynamics 365

Hi All,

I have a custom SSRS report which compiled and deployed successfully, but when I am running it in UAT and Production, I am getting below error:

An error occurred during report data sets execution.

I have debugged the code, but couldn't find any clue which is causing this error. One thing that I haven't tried is to delete the report from Report server and redeploy it again. Can anyone please let me know the URL for Report server, so that I can jump onto that and delete the report and redeploy. Also, if someone has any clue how to resolve this issue. I have also tried creating a new temp table and specify that in DP class, but no luck.

Thanks,

Baber.

    Hi syed baber,

Please Run Reporting Services Manager as Administrator and follow the link:

    https://microsoftdynamix.blogspot.com/2019/01/d365fo-error-occurred-during-report.html

It is one of the solutions to the problem, please let me know if there is any progress.

    Hope this helps.

Did you try debugging it UAT server ? Do you have same data in your dev  as you have in PROD and UAT ?

    Hi Baber,

Did you check SSRS log? Any detailed information in there?

SSRS log should tell you more about the error with executing data set.  The default SSRS log location is in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS<Your SSRS version>.<Your SSRS instance or MSSQLSERVER as default>\Reporting Services\LogFiles.  The SSRS log always has naming conversion like ReportServerService_MM_DD_YYYY_HH_MM_SS so you can nail further down per timestamp you run the SSRS report

    Hi Sunny,

I cannot access the Reporting services folder, as it required Admin access. This is Microsoft managed DEV machine and I don't have admin access on this machine.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

I have tried to debug on UAT data and it passed through find in processReport method without any issues. It gives error when it is populating the report datasource I guess.

Baber, yes processReport is only the data process part, the error is likely from data source population like timeout.  Can you replicate in self managed box/VM with admin access?  Otherwise, if you can only replicate in DEV box, you can establish support request with timestamp for the team to fetch SSRS log for you.

Cannot run as an Administrator, as it is Micorsoft managed DEV machine hosted on Azure.

Also, I tried to look for more details about the error by searching based on the Activity and Session Ids Under Environment details page, but couldn't find anything relevant to this.

Baber, You can search for ReportExecutionTask in LCS raw log to find out more details.  Otherwise, if you still do not find what you want, please establish support incident that we can take closer look.
