Easiest way to setup integration with Business Central

Hello,

I'm working on an application, that would perform some actions in MSBC, for example, create a Purchase Orders based on some external event.

I assume that my application would be used by different people with different skills, so I would like to have the smoothest setup process possible. Something like the "Connect to MSBC" button in my app redirects to Business Central and asks users to log in and approve the permissions I requested. This is very similar to the way how we give other tools access to our Facebook account giving access to create posts on our behalf. Is there any way to do so? Or do I have to ask a user to give permissions for my Entra ID manually somewhere in Azure?

Maybe a custom app in the AppSource store could be a bridge for such a smooth connection?

Thanks for any suggestions!

You can indeed create a smooth setup process for your application to connect to Microsoft Business Central (MSBC) by leveraging OAuth 2.0 for authentication and authorization. This approach allows users to log in and approve the permissions your app requests, similar to how other platforms like Facebook handle permissions.

If you are popping up an external window, just inherit the BC URL directly. This is how the standard handles it.
For example, the following is the latest standard notification:
    BC URL:
    PS: Web client URL

If you want to open it in your program, you can only do it through API/OData.
Standard API for Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS (Get, Post, Patch, Delete and Basic query parameters – filter, orderby, select…)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
