Unable to change the inventory status in WMS

Hi Experts,

I am unable to change the inventory status through Warehouse Management/Periodic tasks/Inventory status change. Below is the steps, I am trying to achieve.

Created PO and added item and confirmed
Created load from Load planning workbench
Used mobile device (Load item receiving and put away) to receive items at RECV location. At this stage inventory status is Available
Navigated to Warehouse Management/Periodic tasks/Inventory status change to change the inventory status to Blocking. Once run, it does not change the inventory status to Blocking.

I did some troubleshooting (as per below) but unable to locate if some steps are missing

Location profile of RECV location is enabled to have mixed inventory status
Warehouse is enabled with "Marking and Reservations" under Remove reservations and marking field

Please can someone guide.

you should create another work to update the status,

updating the status in the same pick/pust work for PO receiving may not allow to change inventory status

Hi Rahul,

I have already received stock at RECV location which is fine completely. Now that I have received, I want to block inventory for further use and hence want to use standard functionality (Warehouse management/Periodic tasks/Inventory Status Change) to change the inventory status.

I am unable to use it.

Not sure if your guidance will be helpful here. Keen to learn how.

Mercury retrograde it is. Below is what I did, and it worked. Still unable to figure out what was the issue.

1. Closed the system

2. Slept soundly for 8 hours

3. Woke up and did work out

4. Came back and started my laptop and logged in to the environment

5. Created PO and added item and confirmed

6. Created load from Load planning workbench

7. Used mobile device (Load item receiving and put away) to receive items at RECV location. At this stage inventory status is Available

8. Navigated to Warehouse Management/Periodic tasks/Inventory status change to change the inventory status to Blocking.

9. Voila, it worked

Hi Vaibhav,

Your Batch job must be in process stage, might it will be in que for the process to be completed. Once the batch job has been processed, your inventory status has been updated.

To check batch job go to System Administration> Inquiries> Batch Jobs

There are several reasons why the periodic Inventory status change job might fail. This is probably not the full list but it's a start!

There is open Work for the stock or LP. (For example, if you have completed the receipt, but not the Purchase order Work).

If you are trying to change part of the quantity on a single LP. (For example, you have two items with the Status Available on one LP. You are not allowed to change the status of only one item on that LP, since it is not supported to have multiple statuses on a single LP).

If the item is on Stop for Inventory (Default / Site specific order settings).

I have also seen problems if the item is allowed to go negative inventory in any way, and is currently negative at some level.

Sometimes, changing the status manually, by using a mobile device menu item of type Quarantine, will reveal a better error message about why the status cannot be changed.
