Hi All,

I use VMWare player for running the AX 2012 VPC's on my laptop. I always have to do below steps to get the EP working after mounting a new VM. So thought to share. I am aware that this may be available at different sources however there is one new item this time in R3 so thought to share.

I have never used the AX 2012 VPC on Hyper-V (As I am not a great Fan of it) So if you are applying these steps on the Hyper-V then do let me know the feedback.

To get your EP up and running in your AX 2012 R3 VPC, please follow below steps.

1) Navigate to C:\Windows\Drivers\etc\Hosts and add the following highlighted entries in host file as shown below. Save the file after this change. 3884.ChangeIP1.jpg

2) Navigate to IIS Manager and remove the multiple protocols.

3) Navigate to the IIS Manager and change the “Assigned IP” addresses. (contoso)

4) Navigate to the IIS Manager and change the “Assigned IP” addresses. (fabrikam)

5) Reset the IIS.

6) Launch the EP and give it some time (1 min) to start.

Hi ALOK,

Latest release of AX2012R3 VPC does not have the above mentioned screens, i think you have taken the screenshot from AX2012R2.

Please refer the below screenshot and host entry to fix the AX2012R3 EP issues.

I have tried both the above suggestion but still EP on VPC is not working, can you provide a VPC of ax 2012 R3 with working EP

Personally, I just followed the technical guide provided for the VM and didn't get into any troubles. To avoid manual steps, there is even a batch file (setIP.bat, I think) to do the job for you (there is quite a few IP addresses you should set up). Please refer to the guide for details.

Can anyone know how to configure Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Virtual Machine on Oracle Virtualbox on Windows 8 (Without Hyper-V).

Hi Rudhra,

I want to configure AX 2012 R3 Demo Virtual Machine on Oracle Virtual Box without (Hyper-V Manager).

I have two vhd file one is Data vhd file and other is OS vhd file and I am not able to attach this files in Virtual Box.

If you have any idea related to this query then please help and guide me.

Hi Arun,

Yes it is same as configuring in Hyper-V.

In Oracle Virtual box you can first point OS vhd as one hard disk and attach another Data vhd as second hard disk.

I have already set one R3 VM on oracle virtual box it is working fine.
