Why the Fixed Assets Capitalization Threshold is not working ?

Dear

I tried to setup the capitalization threshold to one of the fixed assets groups to $1000, and i then purchased 2 assets (first for $1100 and the second for $900)

i expected the second asset to be allocated to the expense account while the first to the regular account but they were both treated normally - meaning using the same ledger.

1. isn't this how Capitalization threshold is supposed to work ? (Lower than $1000 - Expense ::: Over $1000 - Fixed Assets)

2. Ami I missing anything in the Setup ?

note that the Acquisition Proposal is not bringing the "Unaquired asset automatically"

your feedback is greatly appreciated

    Hi N.W.,

The capitalization threshold in AX 2012 is only used to disable the Depreciation check box on the value model and depreciation book. It is not generating automatic transactions to expense the asset. The reason might be that you could sell the asset in future. So to achieve your requirement you have to post additional transactions manually or consider a customization.

    Hi Andre

the above is clear, but i am looking for a way to change the account used from the Asset Cost to Expense since this asset will not capitalized.

I have tried several way and i always end up with the asset cost account , i want the expense account to be affected if the asset is less than the capitalization threshold

is there any way to do this other than customization ?

    regards

    Hello Patrick,

If I remember it correctly this might work via the organization wide fixed asset identifiers given that you start your purchase process for the fixed asset with a purchase Requisition that is converted to a purchase order later on.

    Please see: technet.microsoft.com/.../hh242106.aspx

... you might need some time for Setup&testing but it should work in my opinion.
