Hi,
I am wanting to put an employee's reporting information (the manager they report into) on a powerbi dashboard.
I found the table on dataverse that shows the reporting line - which is called position hierarchy - the tables name is called 'mshr_hcmpositionhierarchyentity'.
When I try to upload data from HR dataverse into powerbi I can't find that table? Does anyone know why this table isn't showing? it is only showing tables starting with cdm populating.
Cheers,
Henry
Hi Henry,
mshr_ is belongs to virtual entity and Dataverse connector in Power BI does not support virtual entity.
Hi parag,
what table would I need to use/upload into powerBI to find the employees manager? I’ve looked through so many tables and can’t seem to find it! thanks
You have to use below tables to get the manger.
a. Cdm_worker
b. Cdm_jobposition
c. cdm_positionworkerassignmentmaps
Please check the below link and you can see the DAX query there to get Manager.

Hi Parag,
Thank you for providing this. I have gone and merged Worker with Position worker assignment, I then got Worker and Position assignment and joined it with Job position. This gave me Position and Parent position.
Currently in my merged table I have the employees name, current job title/jobid, the parent positionid, but I still can't get the managers name?
In a another section you suggest to use this code:
Sorry if I am missing something. Are you using this code to fetch the manager name? Where would I paste this code? I've tried to paste it in a custom column, a new measure, creating a new column and they have all given me back errors saying that the syntax for 'Table' is incorrect.
Create a blank query in Power BI, go to Advance editor, select All and paste the above code. You will get manager value.
Note : Remove the filter on Worker number.
Please try and let me know if any issue.
Sorry for the late reply. Yes this worked!
Sorry I'm not that great at deciphering large code. I feel like this may be a silly question, but what part of that codes will I need to remove to get everyone and not just one worker filtered?
Regards,
HS
Apologies for bring this up again. The team and I are struggling with understanding what part of the code to remove so that the code doesn't just filter one employee but shows all employees?
Appreciate all the help.
Thanks,
Sorry, ignore my previous comment. We figured it out....simple errors on our end!
Thank you
