Hi All,

I am looking for more information on this feature available on Depreciation book and value model form.

"Create depreciation adjustments with basis adjustments"

I would really appreciate if anyone can explain me by giving an example related to this functionality

Also I want to know what is the relevance of calendar field in value model form as we do give calendar/fiscal in Depreciation profile.

    Hello Ashish,

An example for the usage of this parameters is the allowance that some countries provide companies to start depreciation of fixed asset improvements that have been made to fixed assets during a year from the beginning of a year.

Say, you have a fixed asset in place and make a significant improvement that increases the value of the asset by 5000 $ in July of a year.

If this parameter is activated then the depreciation for the 5000$ should start from January of the year where the improvement has been done.

The depreciation for the month prior to the improvement are considered as a depreciation adjustment.

Hope this sheds a bit light on your question.

    All the best,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig for your quick reply.

However Still have a doubt, I brought an asset in October 2015 , charged depreciation on it till Dec and in Jan 2016 when I sold it, system created a line with depreciation adjustment and I am unable to figure out the calculation behind that amount of depreciation adjustment.

Hello Ashish, Can you check and compare the depreciation adjustment that has been posted when you sold the asset with the depreciation posted in Jan 2016 and the total depreciation posted from October 2015 - December 2015? Also check the period frequency setup at the fixed asset value model level. If nothing is setup, depreciation amounts are calculated on a daily basis which makes the comparison a bit more difficult. Hope it helps, Ludwig

Can I just check, does AX has recalculate features which adj the depreciation right from the start of the year? like 5000 depreciation adj from Jan -Jul? And, another thing, What if the service life change in July of a year, also need to adj right from beginning of the year, how AX handle it?
