Can Event Registration Fields be Mapped?

When I create a form, the form fields are mapped to Contact/Lead fields. When I create an event, I can create custom event registration fields - but I do not see a way to map them. Even for the out of box event registration fields, I do not see a mapping. Why doesn't it behave the same?

Sorry but this feature is not available currently. As per my knowledge it is already planned for future but I suggest you visit our Ideas portal and add this feature request. Our PMs regularly review and community votes do impact the roadmap.
