Hostname and IP name not working for business central web client.

Posted on by 130

We downloaded Business Central V20 using the Install Demo feature, and it also downloaded SQL Server 2016 Express. After download we connected, to web client using http://localhost:8081/BC200 and it works. However, when we try to connect to web client using the hostname and/or IP address it won't work. It spits "it took too long to connect" error. We checked the navsettings and webconfig file and everything seems correct. We went int to IIS to add binding and that won't work either. The port is open, but still no luck. Does anyone any suggestion on what might be cause of this? Another thing to note is that Server is old, Windows Server 2012 and are planning to upgrade to Windows Server R2.

    Hello,

Are you trying to connect from a different machine. Localhost can only work on that host machine. If you connect via a https using a certificate, you may need to make a change to the registry on the server hosting IIS.

    Thank you.
