Does BC has out of box feature to generate payment schedule for service contract? I didn't find any based on my search? Just wondering if I missed anything. Thanks!

Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!

Business Central (BC) does not have an out-of-the-box feature specifically designed to generate payment schedules for service contracts. However, you can achieve this functionality through the following approaches:

    1. Recurring Sales Invoices
    • Use Recurring Sales Invoices to simulate a payment schedule. You can set up recurring invoices for the service contract with the desired frequency (e.g., monthly, quarterly).
    • Navigate to Sales & Receivables Setup and configure recurring invoice templates for the service contract.
    2. Service Contract Invoicing
    • While BC supports service contracts, the invoicing is typically tied to the Service Management module. You can define the billing period (e.g., monthly, yearly) in the service contract setup, and the system will generate invoices based on this schedule.
    • Ensure that the Invoice Period field is set correctly in the service contract.
    3. Custom Development
    • If the above options don't meet your needs, consider custom development. A developer can create an extension to generate payment schedules automatically based on your specific requirements.
    4. Third-Party Add-Ons
    • Explore third-party solutions available on Microsoft AppSource. Some add-ons are designed to enhance service contract management and may include payment scheduling features.

    Hope this helps some!

    Hi,

Business Central has new module called subscription billing lets you bill for contractually agreed services on a recurring basis. The integrated, flexible billing models support many subscription model scenarios for pricing models, price management, renewals, and billing periods and frequency.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

As far as I know, there is no standard report, but you can consider customization or solutions such as Power BI.
Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

Business Central does not have an out-of-the-box feature specifically for generating a payment schedule for service contracts. While Service Contracts in BC allow for periodic invoicing, they do not automatically generate detailed payment schedules. You may need to use Recurring Sales Invoices or set up customized billing schedules through extensions or custom development. If you’re looking for automation, exploring Power Automate or third-party apps might be helpful.

Hope this answer will help you!

    Regards,
