Variable / Control IDs, ISV Licenses and Merge

Hi everyone,

... this is just awful :( I am just merging an AddOn into a customer database, and I'm getting lots of "Control ID 1000000000 is in use" and similar messages at the text import of the merged objects. The reason for this is that our renewed ISV license (with our own number range for objects, 5274104..5275103) is now using the same variable / control ID range like every other partner, which leads to collisions when merging newer code, created with the new license. I would expect that I'm not the only one having this problem. Whom do I need to contact to get the license generator (on VOICE) fixed?

with best regards

Jens Glathe

    Hi Jens,

Sorry to hear that you have had so much trouble merging your add-on into your customer’s database.

ISV licenses - Demo/Dev licenses downloaded with  ISV insert rights included - do include a unique variable ID range. You can find the range in the permission report for the license. It looks like this:

    System Objects

    **************************************************************************************************************

    Description                   System Object  Value

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Override start range for IDs  OVIDA          110XXX0000

Override end range for IDs    OVIDE          110XXX0999

Start range for IDs           VAIDB          1000000000

End range for IDs             VAIDE          1000999999

However, if you look at the permission report for your license you only see the standard range for variable IDs, 1000000000 – 1000999999.

From looking at your account in Voice it doesn’t look like your account is set up as an ISV account as I do not see all the ISV options under Developer Tools. For more information about which options you should be seeing under Developer Tools in Voice, see the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Registered Solution Program/Add-On Registration page on PartnerSource at the following link: mbs.microsoft.com/.../nav_addonregistration.htm.

To get set up correctly as an ISV in Voice, please contact Operations. You can contact Operations from PartnerSource: mbs2.microsoft.com/.../chatnow.aspx

Until you get your license fixed you can add a function to codeunit 1 that sets a predefined variable ID. For more information about how to accomplish this, please see the Unique IDs for ISVs blog post at the following link: blogs.msdn.com/.../unique-ids-for-isvs.aspx.

    Hope this helps,
