Hi Sir / Mam,

As we are planning to change our SQL-VM to Azure SQL (Paas).

I just want again to verify if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 can work on SQL Azure as a Service, although i have read on the previous forum last 2016 that it is not possible due to prerequisite.

Any change we can update this if it is possible now? or anyone have tried it on their environment

It is not supported. Only on-premises SQL Server is supported. You can check this in Dynamics AX 2012 System Requirements (which you find by web search).

Most likely it doesn't even work (installation of AX database, or AOS connecting to database would fail right away) - but I haven't tried it.

Also, you would increase the latency between AOS and database a lot, which could cause performance issues.

You might know that support for AX2012 R3 is ending in two years - so you should anyway start planning to upgrade the whole system to cloud (to D365 Finance and Operations).
