Lot number reporting

Hi I am trying to figure out a way to be able to drill into a lot number to see the flow that the item attached to the lot number traveled.  So basically I am

  • setting an item to require lot tracking (all)
  • creating a purchase order, posting and receiving
  • creating a sales order for an item that uses the lot tracked item, creating a released production order
  • Using the consumption journal to post the components against the production order
  • Using the output journal to post the finished production

So what I want is the easiest way to enter the lot number, and see all of these documents that the related lot number passed through

Thanks

    RE: Lot number reporting

Thanks Alexander. Quick question I hope you can help me with. I've posted components in the production journal, when trying to post in the output journal, I get the error that the component I posted (with lot numbers), requires lot numbers.

You can use Item Tracing functionality (e.g., Departments/Warehouse/History/Item Tracing) and enter lot number there. Also, you can try to filter the Item Ledger Entry table by the Lot No. field to get the related records.

    Hi Matt,

To understand this first you have to understand LOT concept...

The interesting part is you can create an example that includes, Purchase, Manufacturing and Sales and then Track any item from the time of Purchase. It is complex to understand all the different setup and its implications.  So the best way is to read out the blogs first...

In short i can say that when you purchase any item, before purchase complete the item card setup with LOT Tracking on. And then while purchasing use the LOT TRACK, while manufacturing as well use the Lot of different components and finally see how the consumption of item is guided by lot tracking...

    Try reading out following blogs:
