Account Entity Security Based on Relationship Type

Hi,

Using Dynamics 365 Sales Professional.

Account Records are tagged using the Relationship Type field as Customers, Vendors, Suppliers, etc.

These records are used across the whole organization for different business purposes which mean we have no single owner or team assignment of an Account record, its a first come first serve ownership of sorts. We use Connections so the ever changing users who are working on an Account can add/remove themselves - this is for reporting purposes.

Issue, I need the sales staff to only have access to Accounts with the Relationship Type Customer and any associated records as part of those Accounts; their Contacts, Opportunities, Timeline, etc.

Everyone else in the system is to have access all the Accounts regardless of the Relationship type, including Customer.

I've tried numerous ways to make this work (Hierarchy, Business Units, filtered views/not secure) and cannot come up with any good working solution.

Suggestions?

Hi,

you can't control security of the record based on the field but you can implement a simple work around just to show sales team on specific views, create a custom app just for the sales team (you can add security roles to the app so that only sales team will have access to that) and only add view to the app where you have condition to show only account based on the specific relationship type.
