Exporting a solution

Boy lots of CRM forums to choose from  I hope i have the correct one.

I am trying to export 4 solutions from my sandbox to my LIVE environment.

I am getting error when i import that not all required components are in the Solution.

OK back to sandbox click the component and click add required components.  So far so good.  I have 311 components.  Is there a way to see which components are missing required components so dont have to go through all 311?

What happens if one solution contradicts another?

Developer 1 was told move the customer name field two fields down and to make a custom field and place it on the form below the customer name.

Six months pass developer 1 has left us.  Developer 2 was told to move the customer field three more fields down and it was determined that the custom field was no longer needed, so it was deleted as part of a solution developer 2 created.

Before the answer is delete it from solution 1 this is just an example, i have hundreds of components in each solution.

Can solutions conflict with each other as they import?

I have the same question (0)

Youll get a lot of contradicting opinions on best way to handle your solutions and deployments.

My opinion, dont ever hit the add all related components button.  Typically if I hit errors about missing dependencies I look at the log when I try to import to track whats missing, then go back to sandbox, add the needed components manually or if its not a necessary part that its depending on, remove 'something'.

Although I'd love to hear other opinions on ALM.

    Hi,

You should create or merge in a new solution having all solution's components

you can do that easily by using XRM TooolBox  Solution Component Mover plugin

and for missing components there is no shortcut

if you know all the components add them

else import the solution and it will give you list of missing components

    Hi

You should merge all the solutions in a single solution and import it

for merging the solution you can use XRM toolbox Solution Component mover plugin that will make it real quick

and for missing components no shortcut either you know and include them or when you import it It will give the list of missing components

    thank you for the suggestion.

When i tried to make a new solution it found 378 entities.  Some of the entities have the check box for include all components already checked.  Some do not.  With the exception of Contacts i believe there are no changes made to the entities with no check box checked.

I tried including all entities.  I got the entity 320, and i got an out of memory error and completely lost all the entities i added to the solution.

I am thinking i need to start again and only include the entities that CRM checks the box for but i am afraid of dependencies on other entities that i am not aware of.

Is there a way to determine if there are dependencies?

    thanks!

I have tried to merge the solutions twice now.  Both times i get out of memory error

    out-of-memory.PNG

Is this my local memory or cloud memory in my CRM?

I guess i have to try the xrm toolbox....I dont even know where to get that or how to start.
