GP 2013 R2 Limited User Type can't access third party form

We have an integration in Dynamics GP where we have used a new internal form. Our integration works was working fine for all type of users until 2013 R2. With GP 2013 R2, it only works when user type is Full User. not with Limited User. Limited user is the new type introduced in GP 2013 R2.

When I check my form in GP, it doesn't have the icon next to it which says that this form can be accessed by limited user type. and that's the reason that when a user with limited user try to use our integration it error out saying that user doesn't have necessary rights to access the form.

Googled a lot but no luck.

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,

Himal

I would rephrase my answer by stating that it is definitely up to third party provider to manage how security is configured regarding their form and functions. Allow me to give a very simple example in here, Post Master is one of the great third party products which can post transactions to Dynamics GP without even consuming a GP user.

In this essence, any security question regarding a third party product is to be discussed with the third party product provider, they will be the ones to give the ultimate answer on why limited users can or can not access their forms.

I agree that it is up to the 'creators' of third party customizations if they bypass any standard GP security e.g. the Limited User Type, but this could end on a breach of the

    End User License Agreement.

I believe the question was regarding if a user set with Limited User Type could access a third party form.

If you create a STANDARD form in Dexterity (without bypassing GP security) and a Limited user is granted access to the new form through GP security (task and roles), the user will get this message 'You don't have security privileges to open this window. Contact your system administrator for assistance' and the form will not open.

    Hi Himal

Dexterity 3rd party forms can be enabled for limited users.

Add a form level constant on your form.

    SPECIAL_USERTYPE

    With a value of 2.

It will then be enabled for Limited Users.

    Hi David,

I just tested it and it works perfectly! Thanks

I didn't have knowledge of this SPECIAL_USERTYPE constant.

Is this constant documented in the SDK?

    Hi Himal

That article discusses how to mark a Service Enabled Procedure for use y a Limited User.

Your question was regarding a form. Have you tested the constant yet?
