is it possible to change the item model group for an item that has activity on it?

Dear

i have an item that i need to change the item model group , but this item has previous receipt and sales activity ,

is there any possible way for me to change the item model group for this item ?

Hi Silvano,

Even though it is technically possible to change the item model group - unless the Standard costing one - I would suggest that you set up a new item, otherwise your item valuation might become cumbersome/wrong if the item has already used for some time in various transactions.

It depends on what exactly are you trying to do, but by default you cannot/should not change inventory model group. It is also mentioned in the documentation:

You can't change if transactions exist.

create new one, update with open balance.

I think you can rename the item, but am not sure about this.

What is different about the Item model group you want to change to (compared to the Item model group you are moving from)?

I want to change to change it from a Item model group that is "Not a Stockable item", to a "Stockable Item" ,

I know this is not a reasonable request given the complicated nature of the item costing but still i wanted to know if it was possible since it is the only field that is NOT disabled after an item is released.

Hi Ludwig,

Is there any way where we can change Std. cost to FIFO for an item (item have posted transaction)?

I know it is possible to change Std. cost to Moving avg. if On-hand qty is zero.
