How can I know when a Client Asset already has a work order scheduled or in progress?

Posted on by 50

Hello Community
I need your help. Currently our organization uses Dynamics 365 Field Service for route scheduling. We are separated by units and each unit has a programmer and some resources. Example Projects or Maintenance

The problem is, we have a client that has multiple branches distributed throughout the territory and additionally they have a department in charge of monitoring these. Monitoring is a different organization than ours and they use their own software.

Sometimes these sites are intervened by the Projects Area and due to this it is necessary to remove it from the system, when this happens, the monitoring department notifies the incident to the Maintenance unit so that it can move resources and validate the status of the System in these sites .

Because each of the units is independent, this programming is carried out and the technician is sent to the site and once he arrives he realizes that the site is being intervened by the project department. Then he finishes his work by reporting what happened to his programmer and leaves the site.

Our intention is to avoid these displacements, it occurs to us that perhaps it is possible that there is a kind of notification or that there is a restriction that allows to show that the client's Asset already has another work order scheduled or in Progress.

Thank you for your attention.

Displaying a message to the dispatcher on the board sounds like a good use case for booking rules. A good example - kudos to Thomas Dayman - can be found here:

Downside is you need developer skills plus there could potentially be performance effects.

You could also run a Flow (no coding skills required) upon creation/update of a booking. Runs asynchronously, but that also means no immediate feedback for the dispatcher. However a booking alert created by the Flow would still catch the dispatcher's attention.

    Hi, thanks for your response

    * I would like in the programming

    * The notification should be for the programmer, but if it is for the resources there is no problem.

When would you like to conduct this check (during the scheduling or some time prior to the appointment)? Who should receive the notification?
