In place server upgrade

Hello, we need to upgrade our Management reporter server from 2012 to 2016. We're currently on v2.12.16003.25. We tried to in place upgrade once and it didn't work. That was just straight os upgrade. Is there anything that needs to be done for the upgrade to work?

The main issue was after the upgrade under "Connections" it was trying to connect to the different port.

This was prior to upgrade http://servername:4712/and this was after the upgrade http://servername4713/

What was issue you ran into exactly? There is a settings file that contains a timeout setting that defaults to 300 (I believe that's in seconds so 5 minutes). If something in upgrade process takes longer than that (very common especially with table that can grow quite large like ReportLineTransaction, Data, ReportLineFinancial, ReportLineAccount) then the upgrade will fail due to timeout. Try bumping this value up and run through upgrade again (quite frankly I usually just add a bunch of 0's to it to effectively turn off the timeout).

You can always export your building block and then completely remove MR and perform a reinstall. Then import the building blocks back in and assign security.
