Dear Experts,

Did anyone  successfully update Personnel number for employee using excel add-in? Could you please share your experiences?

I did test on standard testing environment (MS's sample data), and because it might have alot dummy data so i cannot upload the new personnel number for existing employees.

Thank in advance,

Thu,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

We can not update personal number for employee, because this is a number sequence.

Are you saying you want to create new employee as per your personal number?

    Hi Ramit,

The personal number on D365FO is incorrect and i would like to update this. The Employees are the same, only personal numbers need to update.

    Thank and best regards,

    Thu

    Hi,

You may create new employee with another personal number and terminate the incorrect one.

    Hi Thu,

The data entity is not supporting renaming the worker records with a new number. The Personnel number is the data entity key. If you provide a new number, it will think it needs to create a new record.

If the numbers are incorrect, you can consider writing a runnable class to change the values. Note that you have to check all related tables. For 98% of the cases, the Record ID is used as reference in related tables. For those tables, renaming the personnel ID is not an issue, but there might be cases that the personnel number value itself is stored in various other tables. This is mostly occurring when there are customizations. You will need to find those tables and include them in your script.

Note that this is not supported by Microsoft. You have to test it carefully and check all.

If you are not live yet and there are no historical transactions, deleting the workers and recreate with the correct number might be easier.
