Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a way to create a Production Order in which the components could be consumed from different location codes than the one selected in the Production Order Line. Does anybody have an idea how to do it?
FYI, we don't use the Pick and Put-Away functionalities, and we have no intention to start using them in the future.
Thanks!

Hi Vishal
I have access to Nav Development Environment. Which field/property in the "Components at Location" to default the location? Is it under the 'IntValue'?
My aim: everytime I run the production order component, the list of items should reflect the default location code. Currently, it is default to other location which was set up 20 years ago by others.. unknowingly. Please assist.
Hi,
You can create Stock keeping units and define components at location at certain extent.

Better you go for customization. You may attach the Default Location Code at Item Card and while refreshing the Prod. Order, you can write the code in Prod. Order Line Table >
Item No. - OnValidate() to fetch the Location Code from Item No. or any other suitable customised table.
As of now, Prod. Order Line > Location field is being fetched by Prod. Order Table.
Components at Location does allow having a different Location Code than the Prod Order Line in Prod Order Components, for all components.
This is fine, but what I'm trying to achieve is having different location codes within Prod Order Components (one component uses one Location Code for consumption, while another component may use a different Location Code), to avoid having to change the values manually each time a Production Order is refreshed.
The reason is we are using a Shop Floor our NAV partner developped for us, and that Shop Floor simply uses the Prod Order Components content as is. Operators cannot modify the Location Codes for consumption, like for example with the Production Journal or Consumption Journal.
So without customization, it doesn't seem realistic to expect such a thing to be achievable, does it?
Vishal Components At Location will work only if the location code is blank, if it has a value then it will use that location code.
Have you tried configuring "Components at Location" in manufacturing setup. It is actually meant for it.
When you have this setup and refresh your production order, system will consume the inventory from this location. Try this.
Yes, the affected items would always use the same (different) location than the other items. I would then be ready to default this.
The ultimate goal would be to automate this process when refreshing the production order, perhaps by referring to the Work Center, or else.
You can manually select the preferred locaiton code on the components. Are you planning to default this ?
There is option available in Manufacturing Setup > Components at Location. You can select the default location here and system should consume the inventory from this location.
Also, you can change the Location Code manually at Production Journal / Consumption Journal while booking the consumption of components.
Hope this helps.
