Trigger (Work-)Flow on change of Calculated Field

Hi,

I need to repopulate a helper field every time the calculated field is updated. So that I can rollup that helper field.

Unfortunately the "On Update" triggers will not work for calculated fields.

What is the easiest workaround?

- Business Rule (Entitiy) to update the helper field: this brings ugly "Unsaved Changes" popups when users open the records. Also it should run in the backend, not sure if this runs only when the record is opened.

- Schedule once a day and iterate through ALL records and update the helper fields

- ...?

Hi Serf,

There is no Out of the Box solution for trigger the workflow from Calculated field. Since roll up field calculate from the rollup jobs. Through Javascript you can fetch the data of calculated field and update in differnt replica field.

Hi SErf,

Calculated fields cannot be used to trigger workflows and flow, which is by design and I have tested it. Following is my test process.

1.Flow.

When I set calculated field as filter, the flow cannot work when I wait for three minutes or more.

2.Workflow.

When I click Select button to select field, I cannot find the calculated field.

So we have to new a simple field and use flow to implement the logical function of the calculated field to the simple field, so that flow and workflow both can triger on this simple field.

Here are steps.

1.create a new simple field.

2.create an automate flow and set this flow.

In this flow, you can set logical function of the original calculated field.

3.now this simple field can trigger workflow or flow.
