Dear DAXperts,

I am currently working on D365 implementation project and focusing on Projects module. I would like to know the options available for import of forecasts using excel. I have found that entities does exists like "Project hour forecasts, Project fee forecasts, Project expense forecasts etc. I need some details around this process. Is this just any other Data Management process or does this require any more setups.

What are your experiences around this feature of excel import of project forecasts? Your comments/views are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Sreekanth

    Hi Sreekanthxlnc,

If you are in one of the forecast forms, you can make of the 'Open in Excel' functionality and Export, modify and update all forecast values through an Excel upload.

Have you test using this feature that does not go through the data management functionality?

For a limited number of forecast transactions that you need to import, this might be the simplest and fastest way to get your transactions imported.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for your response. From the Data Management, I see no success.

With your above suggestion, I could export my forecast to excel, but how can I publish back the edited forecast? Appreciate your help.

    Regards,

    Sree

    Hi Sree,

I just made use of the Excel Export functionality

Added 3 column fields through the Excel add-in desginer (highlighted in green Color)

Entered a new hour forecast line and published it back to D365fO

    Result:

The newly created line was published

You can simply test this in any of the available MS contoso demo companies.
