Hi Terry,
Is it necessary to install retail for call center functionality utilization. in my case we not using the retail but we want to use the call center functionality.
I have configure the retail channel for call center and add the user in channel user list. Complete shipment option is enable but when we create sales order it give the same error; Mode of delivery is not valid for item number: while i have configure the mode of delivery setup as per your blogs but keep in mind that retail is not there.
How can i resolve this if don't use the retail
Plz help me out.

It is necessary to enable retail to get access to Call center functionality, since Call center falls under the Retail licence configuration key.
But since you have configured a Retail Channel, you must have retail enabled already. It is not necessary to configure full 'Retail' functionality to use Call Center. The fact that you are getting this error means that you must have done enough to enable Call center. When you create a Sales order, in the header, is 'Retail sale' ticked? This means Call center is configured and active.
I was able to rectify this issue by;
1. Added country in the address tab of Mode of Delivery set up & process mode of delivery.
2. Updated the customer address with the same country details.
in short, country code in "Mode of delivery" and "customer address" should match.

My "mode of delivery" was set on order line, but when I opened the drop down menu no delivery modes was populated in the list. What I did to solve it:
1. Added the channel I was targeting in the "Modes of delivery" (sales and marketing)
2. Run the "process modes of delivery" batch job
After that it worked for me.
