Accessing D365 Table Browser for non-sysadmin user

Is there anyway that a non-System Admin user can access the D365 table browser? If so, how do I configure the security for the role? It seems like only system administrator can access that, and even Information Technology Manager can't access the the table browser.

Accessing D365 Table Browser for non-sysadmin user
It is not possible for non-admins without customizations. See this thread: Table Browser Security Problem
Why is it so that you want non-admins to use the table browser? It's a potential security and compliance risk

Accessing D365 Table Browser for non-sysadmin user
    Hello CU17030119-0,

You've hit upon a key security restriction in Dynamics 365. The systablebrowser menu item is indeed exclusively accessible to users with the System Administrator role. This is a deliberate security measure by Microsoft to protect the underlying data model of the system.

    Why the Restriction?
    • Data Integrity: The table browser provides direct access to the Dataverse database schema and data. Allowing unrestricted access could lead to unintentional or malicious data modifications.
    • Security Risk: Exposing the table browser to non-administrators increases the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data.
    • System Stability: Incorrect use of the table browser could potentially disrupt the stability of the Dynamics 365 environment.

No Supported Way for Non-Admins to Access:
    • Security Roles: There is no security privilege that can be granted to non-System Administrator roles to enable access to the systablebrowser.
    • Customizations: Modifying the system to bypass this restriction is highly discouraged as it could lead to unsupported configurations and potential security vulnerabilities.

    Alternative Approaches (For Non-Admins):
While direct access to the table browser is restricted, here are some alternative approaches for non-admin users to access and work with data:
    1. Advanced Find:
      • This is the primary way for non-admins to query and retrieve data.
      • Users can create and save views to access specific data sets.
    2. Views and Dashboards:
      • Administrators can create views and dashboards that provide non-admins with access to relevant data.
    3. Power Apps:
      • Power Apps can be used to build custom applications that provide tailored data access and manipulation capabilities.
    4. Power BI:
      • Power BI can be used to create interactive reports and dashboards that visualize Dynamics 365 data.
    5. Dataverse Web API:
      • For developers, the Dataverse Web API provides programmatic access to data.
      • This requires appropriate permissions and authentication.
    6. XrmToolBox:
      • This is a community developed tool that can be used to view system metadata, and data.
      • This tool will still require the user to have appropriate permissions to the data.

    Information Technology Manager Role:
    • The Information Technology Manager role is designed for managing system configurations and settings, but it does not grant access to the table browser.
    • This role provides a balance between administrative control and data security.

    Key Takeaway:
    • The systablebrowser is intentionally restricted to System Administrators for security and data integrity reasons.
    • Non-admins should use alternative methods like Advanced Find, views, and Power Apps to access and work with data.
