"setting dialing rules" in "phone and modem options"

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem my usual googling can't seem to resolve. I am trying to roll out the Dynamics 2009 client and on new PC builds the users are getting a dialog box asking them to specify their location in the "phone and modems" applet. I am sure someone must have come across this before and resolved it - grateful to hear from you.

Matt

    Hi,

Does this look like a network dialer to make connection with the internet? Check network settings?

Yeah, thats pretty much what it is. You can open it via the command line: Telephon.cpl

For some reason Dynamics is teh only application that has required me to set a 'My Location' in there. Not sure why or if there is a way to turn it off (or how to set a My Location by group policy).

How is your network connection configured? I would say you have configured none or some which requests for a dial up. Can you check on the lan or on internet explorer --> Options --> Connections tab. ? Can you make connection to a website on those PC's?

Yep - it's a full AD (Windows 2008) domain, behind firewall, DHCP controlled, ISA server proxy etc. We have over 100 PC's all able to access the internet/echange server etc, it's just when we do a new build, before Dynamics AX will run it asks to set "my location" on each PC.

    Hi,

I have seen the issue you encounter also in my dev yesterday. I imported from my production database all definitions including data and I imported all configuration keys. I did not compile (I guess not required). I also did not reimport the license key. Since I am a single user I do not really bother to fix it. But maybe the solution for you lies in importing your licensekey again (since you did compile and I not).

    Please let me know.

    J.
