Recent change in Segment Name Validation

I have a lot of segments created already & now I am unable to save them due to a change in the way that the segment name is validated.

The issue appears to be with having a '-' (dash) character in the friendly name, which as of yesterday was allowed.

Is this a bug, or by some new design?

    I just saw this today but yes, I've run into the same problem.  They fortunately still run and process but if you need to edit them, the hyphen will stop it from saving.  FWIW, I let the team know, but I don't think there's any easy fix other than removing the hyphens.

    Hi,

    We're sorry for the inconvenience this is causing. But this change was necessary to address a security risk assessment that we made internally. We are no longer accepting the following special characters in the display name:

    '+', '-', '@', '=', ';', '/', '|', '!', ',', '\'', '\'', '\\', '\n', '\v', '\t', '\r'

    All existing segment/measures will continue to refresh as you expect, even if the display name contains these special characters, but if/when you edit/update a segment/measure that contains these special characters in the display name, you'll see the above error and will need to remove the offending special character to be able to save that segment.

    Hope this helps.

    Note that having ANY special characters seem to prevent saving of a segment, except brackets ()[]{}
