Trigger Workflow Approval on Line Deletion

Hi,

is it possible to trigger a workflow approval when user is trying to delete a line record?

For example, user want to delete a purchase order line. The line won't be deleted until an approver approves the workflow that is triggered from the delete action.

Do out of the box workflows support this functionality?

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Hairul,

There is no workflow out of the box for deleting lines, only for managing an approval status field on records.

As workaround, you can consider creating a new table where you can maintain delete requests and control whether a line can be deleted on a completed workflow on the new table.

    Hi Andre,

thank you for clarification. Is there any available link/sample to handle the delete request by any chance?

    Hi Hairul,

I haven't faced this requirement myself. I was only providing my thoughts on a possible solution direction.

    Hi HAIRUL HAZRI,

As Andre mentioned there is no OOB workflow control on deleting lines.

One possible solution could be When user click on Remove button on Purchase order lines, it should trigger the custom worflow and once it is approved, the submitter should be able to delete the line.  Just to give some hint, you can check and study the vendor approval changes WF functionality build by MS how exactly that is handled and i suggest you to use the same logic as dynamic solution and fully controllable.
