COGS setup for service item with Stocked Option in AX 2012 R3

Hello,

We are using AX 2012 R3, here is our requirement. We get lot of special order items that may not be ordered again. We don't want to create them as individual physical item. I tried to use One Service item with Stocked Option checked. When I tried I see cost amount for PO's. But for SO, cost is not populating and only Revenue and AR entry populating. Please let me know what am I missing here and is there better option one time inventory item.

    Hi Dhamu,

That means that system cannot find the cost when you invoice the sales order.

Do you invoice PO before invoicing SO?

And i see your model  group does not match with transaction, you disable the physical negative inventory in model group but your item is negative.

Please recalculate the item value in closing and adjustment.

    Hi,

How can you guarantee that the costs of a 'special order item' does not get mixed up with the cost of another 'special order items' if you use only a single item for all 'special order items'?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Sorry for delayed response. I raised the same question. Now they are changing the option.

Is it possible to populate cost when posting sales order for an service item with Stocked option checked?

Sorry for delayed response. Is closing and adjustment is mandatory?

    Hi Dhamu,

If you make use of the stocked option parameter, what makes your service item different from any other item except the name?

Closing and adjustment is mandatory if you use a current costing method, such as FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, etc.

If you use standard costs or moving average it is not mandatory but highly recommended.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig and Everyone,

I see the same behavior as posted in this thread. We have certain software license products that we are planning to create as Item type "Service" and "stocked" product selected in the item model group.

When we purchase these items, I see the cost is showing up on the Inventory transactions where in when I see the same items, system is showing up the cost as blank. I have also checked the accounting entries for the Sales Invoice, only revenue is posted but not the cost. Due to this, it looks as if we are making a 100% margin.

Any thoughts from anyone? appreciate your help.
