Export/Import Harvest Timesheets into Project Service Automation (PSA) Timesheets

We are looking at moving to PSA very soon, but want to know if we can export all our timesheet data from Harvest and import it into PSA Timesheets. Probably looking only at active projects for now, but if we want to import everything from Harvest, then is that possible?

    Hi,

I am having same issue. I have to migrate Harvest Data in PSA Dynamics 365.

I did a test run, and it seems we can migrate Projects (By import/export and matching Dynamics 365 PSA Destination format). But Time sheet migration seems challenging, I am thinking below steps:

1 - Get CSV export from Harvest for each user

2 - Format it to Resource Booking Data Template in PSA

3 - Import CSV under Resource Booking in PSA

4 - Under Time Entry, Users would then import Time Sheet Data as "Resource Booking"

5 - Assign Project Name and Click Save / Submit

This will be a tedious task plus we would need to involve users, I have to test run this though. Its my first day exploring options on how to migrate Harvest Data in PSA and I am thinking this solution - but need to test it first.

If you get any more info regarding any other solution, please comment. Thank you.

    Hi Sumayya,

May I ask on the process you followed to import projects into PSA? What was the format of the source projects?

Did you manage to conduct your tests on importing Harvest timesheets into PSA?

I have come to a stage that we need both the above to be done and have no headway on it as yet.

    Regards,

    Dominic.

    Hi Dominic,

Migrating Harvest data in Dynamics is a tedious task, so I exported the Harvest data in csv and I am keeping it in a secured SharePoint library location and not moving the data in dynamics.

I will start fresh in 2018, and will have only my active projects time entry. However, I inputted manually the actual hours worked in the dynamics project field for reporting purpose, the field name is "Actual hours". When the user submits a fresh time entry, the actual hours field would increment.

    Hi Sumayya,

I reckon this activity in my case has become much simpler. I need to only create all the Active projects in PSA. Our cut-off date is 31st Dec 17, so all future time entries will be in PSA and we don't need any migration of old hours.

I'm still wondering how you were able to enter a value in the 'Actual Hours' field in Dynamics as it is locked and a calculated field.

Good to know that, we also have a cut off on 31st December 2017.

For editing the Actual Hours and Actual Cost fields, I used the form editor:

    - to edit the project entity main form

    - then made the Actual Hours and Actual Cost field as editable (it was locked but I changed it to editable)

    - inputted the sum of the actual hours spent and actual cost for the project in the fields

    - locked the fields again.

Now, if someone submits a time entry, the actual hours and cost will increase. Hope this helps.

Oh.. I should've known that. Thanks for reminding me.
