Automatic cost posting to GL

Hi,

One of my client using Costing method as FIFO. in inventory cost setup automatic cost set up is not "ticked". They are not running the "inventory cost post to GL" report .so at the time of issuing (in item journal unit cost is calculated as average method) and in the inventory valuation report stock value is not correct

But after running the "inventory cost post to GL" and Adjust cost item entries the unit cost and stock value are comming correctly .

but my client is saying we cant run the report "inventory cost post to GL" and and Adjust cost item entries every time .. we want the unit cost to be picked as per FIFO methodology while issuing item (in item journal)

I have given suggestion as (I will enable the Automatic cost posting to yes and automatic cost adjustment as always )

Will it solve my problem ?? or still i need to run the reports. after enabling the tick mark (Automatic cost posting to yes and automatic cost adjustment as always )

Just enabling will take care, but it will slow down the system.

We suggest put this in Job Queue and let it run via there in mid night every day.

You mean to say you have not run it for a year !

My suggestion would be to take a fresh backup and restore it as test cost entries and run the Inventory cost post to GL in test database, see how much time it takes.

If it posts successfully then check all the entries and accordingly do it in production server.

If it is not run for previous year then you need to run it .It will take time based on your entries to be adjusted

My suggestion is to setup automatic cost posting as periodic night activity

I support other members here - to setup the job on periodical basis, e.g. every night.
