How to get Processing groups in LCS

(0) ShareShare

I am working on AX R3.

I want to export and import customers and vendors data from DEV to TEST so taught to use LCS configuration for this.

I have installed the Systemdiagnostics. Gave the configuration information

Moved to the Lcs open the project and clicked on the required environment

Gone down below

Gave name to the configuration as DEV_Customer I got the below image and pressed continue

After I get the process complete message I pressed Continue I got the below image where I am not able to get any information of the processing groups from environment.

I taught these are the processing groups from AX Dataimportexportframework > common > Processing groups

I checked there but found some processing groups already existing.

How can we get The processing groups displayed here.

    Hi Harika,

Did you setup the correct source data formats? You will need an type AX and CSV. ax.help.dynamics.com/.../set-up-configuration-manager-lifecycle-services-lcs

What data source format was used for the processing groups?

    Hi Harika,

Did you start the configuration manager correct? When I start the tool I do see a part with Configurations to export and Configurations to import. Your screenshot of the "Configuration" looks different.

    Hi,

    Thanks, for the reply.

I came to know that using Configuration manager we can only export configuration and not data, I also want to export data also by using LCS, for this we use the configuration template which we can see at the bottom of the page when we open a project.

I refereed the highlighted point in the link below where I have found on the google.

    8.     Configuration manager and Data deployment templates for Dynamics AX 2012

    Thanks,

    Harika.

    Hi Harika,

The blog post was written for AX7. Your question is tagged for version AX2012. Is your question related to AX2012?

What exact steps did you take to start the configuration manager on LCS?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I want it for AX 2012 R3 only.

I have activated the System diagnostics on LCS, My requirement is to transfer data from DEV to TEST using Configuration manager

So after clicking on the project If we go down we have a configuration tab there

    So created a new configuration

    2016_2D00_08_2D00_23_5F00_1223.png

After that went to the next steps Storage settings, Discover environment metadata

    2016_2D00_08_2D00_23_5F00_1223.png

And next we have 3 Select Data where we need to select the Processing groups where i am not able to select any processing data.

    2016_2D00_08_2D00_23_5F00_1224.png

This is how i went with the process.

    1)   Can we export both Configuration and data using Configuration manager tool? ( as per my analysis i think we can export only configuration if i am not wrong)

    2) So i have found the above lync and done the above process to export both data and configuration and taught that it can be implemented in Ax2012 also.

    3) Is the above process cannot work for AX2012

    4) If the above process doesnot work for AX 2012 is there any other way through which we can export both configuration and data.

    Thanks,

    Harika.

    Hi Harika,

You don't see an option called 'Configuration manager (preview)' in your project? This has some other look and feel and should match your requirement.

For moving data from DEV to TEST you can also try to use the Test Data Transfer Tool which is available on LCS (Downloadable tools). ax.help.dynamics.com/.../test-data-transfer-tool-beta-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012
