Hi Expert,

I'm in a very bad situation I have worked on a solution for more than 3 months and accidentally forgot my source code but I have a successful deployable package. Is it possible to read my code again?

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

If you don't use any version control systems, then you can lose all your code at any moment. It seems that it just happened. Your situation is a result of your way or working and you should fix this bug in your process immediately. You've lost your work once, but you surely don't want to do it again.

Note that setting up Azure DevOps takes just a few minutes and it's free (for small teams and people with Visual Studio subscription license).

Regarding getting the code, deployable packages contains just binaries, not source code. It is possible to decompile binaries to something like C#, but you can't imagine that it'll resemble your original code too much.

I don't know what exactly you mean by "forgetting your code", but if applicable, you can also try undeleting the files.

    Hi,

In that case I think it will be hard if you don't use Source Control or take backup locally as Martin explained, it is hard to get the source code from the package so you might need to redo everything again unfortunately. That's why we, as a developer might always need to take backup or commit regularly to the Repos to avoid this kind of situation.

Another thing you might check is that if you have any snapshot or auto backup of the window to restore.

    Regards,
