How to get a GLTF Vertex Baked Animation to work as expected?

I have a gltf model and animation that was made by baking changes to model vertices during each frame. The model shows the animation appropriately in any .gltf viewer as well as in the Guides Desktop application. However, in the HoloLens 2 when this model is added to a step, no animation shows. It doesn't matter what state the animations toggle is in, the model displays no animation and behaves as if it were a static model.

Here is a gif showing the animation from the properties view of the Guides desktop application. This animation is very short, only 1 second so it has looped several times in this gif. I can provide this file if needed so you can confirm it does not work in the HoloLens 2 or assist me in figuring out how to get vertex baked animations to work in the headset when using .gltf

Thank you

Hi Andrew, unfortunately we do not support vertex-based animations at the moment. Currently we support node-based and skinned animations. In the meantime I forwarded your feedback to the engineering team and you may wish to post an idea to https://aka.ms/GuidesIdeas for additional feedback to the team.

Oh, that's interesting. So vertex animations are not supported, but they show up as working properly in the desktop application of guides. There are also numerous vertex animated gltf files in my Guides instance that play back their animations in the desktop application without issue.

Is there some conversion that Guides is doing to the files when it brings them down to the headset that explains the behavior where the desktop app shows it as working, but the Headset does not?

If it isn't going to work on the headset, why does the desktop application make it seem like it will, by showing me the animations as they are expected to work?

Is it still not supported? I don't know much about animations in general; I specialize in graphic design. Sometimes I use the services of thevisual.team animation agency. However, it seems to me that you can solve your problem. There are tons of animation tutorial videos on YouTube. I'm pretty sure you can find a solution there. When something doesn't work out for me in my work, I always look on Google or YouTube for answers and tips. I can also sometimes ask for help from colleagues in the profession. It's even better than YouTube. So good luck with that.
