Tracking an appointment in Dynamics 365 App for Outlook

Hi,

We're confused on how the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook is working. Can anyone please confirm that:

1. Tracking an appointment is just clicking Track > Select Tracking with Regarding or without Regarding

2. On Track, clicking the + button creates a new Appointment in D365 and not the actual record that is tracked with Outlook

We tried looking everywhere but it's always the same: tracking emails has the same way as tracking an appointment

Thanks you very much

Regards,

Gracia

    Hi Gracia,

Please find the information how Dynamics 365 App for Outlook working using https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-app/v8/dynamics-365-app-outlook-user-s-guide-v8. Thank you.

    Hi Mobeen,

Thanks for this, we have provided the same guide to our client but they are not satisfied as it is not very clear with the instructions.

Another question, our client wants the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook to be modified through CRM. This is because our current version (v8.2 on-premise) together with the app has very limited functionalities especially with regards to tracking an appointment. They like to have the similar features from the legacy Outlook plugin wherein you can:

    a) update the appointment in CRM from Outlook itself (View in Dynamics 365 button in legacy plugin) after the appointment is tracked

    b) appointment fields from CRM should be visible to the dynamics app so they can track an outlook appointment without updating the appointment thru CRM (similar to Dynamics 365 fields in the legacy plugin)

Both are missing to Dynamics App for Outlook version 8.2.

This is currently on v9 and we were told that Microsoft will not be releasing any enhancements for v8.2 that are already in v9. Upgrading to v9 is not our option right now, and our client is eager to have this tracking feature be included with our current version.

The question is, is it possible for us to achieve any of the features abovementioned by customizing anything through CRM?

Response is highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    Regards,

    Gracia

    Thank you for asking.

As per my understanding, it seems not possible but it is better to engage Microsoft support team by raising support request at admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/support. Thank you.

    Best Regards,
