Link between smmActivities table and CustTrans table

Hello,
 
I am attempting to build a report that shows smmactivities based on customer account and also based on invoice. 
 
I was able to connect the activity to the customer account by the following:
1. smmactivities.activitynumber > smmactivitiesparentlink.activitynumber
2. smmactivitiesparentlink.refrecid > custtable.recid
 
However, I am not able to find a link to the custtrans table. I have read forums that the state the SmmActivityParentLinkTable.RefRecId column is related to the CustTrans.recid column. However, this method does not pull the correct invoice into view.
 
Any help that you can provide is appreciated!

    Have you tried joining the tables like below.
    CustTrans
    CustTable
    SmmActivityParentLinkTable
    SmmActivities.

    Yes, I have tried to find a connection but the only ones I can find are below. 
    1. smmactivities.activitynumber > smmactivitiesparentlink.activitynumber
    2. smmactivitiesparentlink.refrecid > custtable.recid
    3.custtable.accountnum > custtrans.accountnum (which does not tie it to the specific invoice, only the customer acccount number)
