Management Reporter Excel Link Error

Posted on by 5

I'm trying to pull in data from an excel sheet that is saved in a file that definitely does exist (it is the same folder that management reporter defaults to exporting excel files.)

Does anyone know how to resolve this error?

RE: Management Reporter Excel Link Error

Hi Greg - thanks so much, Management Reporter now seems to be able to find the file/worksheet.

It still isn't actually pulling in the value from the cell I'm linking to.. there are no errors, but the value still doesn't show up on the report.  Any thoughts as to why?

    Thanks,

    Emily

When the report is generated, the MR service account user is the user that is gather the data.  If the service account user does not have access to the folder where the Excel files are located, you'll get this error.  You can check what account is used for the MR services by opening the MR Configuration Console.  Click on Management Reporter Services and the user will be listed there.  This user will need at least Read permissions to the folder.

You should also use a UNC path for the folder so the service account can find it.  The Excel file is in your local user's folder.  The service account (which is running on your server) won't have access to this path.  That location only exists on your local workstation and the service account cannot find it.  It's best to have the Excel files in a shared location that the service account can access.
