Filter by Item Attributes ends in <>* when filtered using more than 2 attribute criteria.

Posted on by 5,596

Hi all,

Hope you all doing good.

We are using NAV 2017 - CU3 - UK.

The problem we encounter is when we use "Filter By Item Attributes" on the Item List Page and when we input more than two filters, the final filter ends with <>*. Check screenshot.

I checked the Codeunit 7500, Function: GetItemNoFilterText(), and it is EXIT-ing the <>* filter even though we have matches, but it works fine if filtered with 2 or lesser attributes.

Can anyone confirm me as it is a bug or we have a workaround for this issue?

Thanks in advance.

I do not think it is a bug. I think it is a method of showing there is nothing filtered out (our developer Andrey Baludin gave me a good hint). If you would check your filters, this would mean that the list of items for one criteria most likely does not intersect with the list of the items for the other criteria. That is, if the result of the filtering is empty, "<>*" is substituted to show there is nothing to select... Tried with my version and it works fine.

    Hi there,

this is definitely a bug. Can't give you a workaround immediately - I have no NAV2017 repository here, and the code in CU7500 is giving me headaches. I would assume that presetting the return value of FindItemsByAttribute() with '<>*' is not the best of ideas. After setting it, every EXIT returns this value, regardless if it's a good idea or not.

    with best regards

    Jens
