Defaulting category codes in Enterprise Portal Timesheet line items for projects

My client is deploying Enterprise Portal tied to AX 2012 R2 CU7.  The client will use the enterprise portal timesheets for all its consultants to record their billable time.  When you create a line item, select a project ID, and then an activity code, the enterprise portal does not auto-populate the category.  Why not?  Is there a configuration setting somewhere that I haven't found that controls this?  The consultants will likely know the project ID or can easily find it, and then the activity code will be a selection from a drop down box.  From there, can EP auto-populate the category?  Do I have a choice between auto-populating the category from the activity or from the employee master?

    Hi Howard,

I can recall an issue. You can search on LCS issue search for possible hotfixes. Probably KB2956585 is related. I can't remember if I had exactly the same issue or some others. There are more issues related to timesheets which are solved in hotfixes, so do a search on LCS for possible more fixes. At a customer we solved some issues ourselves.

Thank you.  This KB seems to fix a problem with the category not being mandatory.  My issue is that I want the category default to come from the worker's employee master record and not the category assigned to the activity in the WBS.

If you are not looking for a solution of configuring a parameter and can make changes to the code, then the simple answer would be to do that in the used TsTimesheet dataset used in the EP AddEdit page by writing only a few lines of code. If this is an acceptable solution I can look later at what is the exact dataset to use.
