Post only the business unit dimension on the inventory account and Retail Channel, product category, dimensions on the COGS account from retail statement posting

I am working with a retailer who is using 7 financial dimension in total but they use 4 dimensions that come from either the store, customer, or item profiles. (Business unit, State, Retail Channel, and Product Category) Since transfer orders do not create General ledger transactions, and the transfer items to stores from DC's and from Store to Store, and store to DC, they want to track their inventory by main account and business unit only. We have setup and account structure for the inventory account with only the business unit dimension.

However when we create a retail statement and post it we get the following

Cost of goods main account, business unit, state, retail channel, Product category ( this is required as they report by these dimensions on the P&L

Inventory main account, business unit, state, retail channel, Product category. We want this line to post with only the Inventory main account and business dimension and expected from the account structure but it posts with all 4 dimensions attached.

We have thought about the option of using transfer journals but you can only enter one setup of dimensions as opposed to the to and from set of dimensions to that does not work.

This causes a very messy Trail balance as inventory is generally brought into DC's so this debit amount continues to grow but is never credited as products are shipped to the store

The store line continues to grow a credit value as we are generally recording only sales with occasional debits coming from returned merchandise.
