I have over 22,000 fixed asset records with service lives greater than 99 years.
Our in-house super-user updated the "Original Life Year" field on the Book card to 3 digits,
When I manually create an asset record in GP that has a service life of eiher 100, 110 or 120 years, the field accepts the 3-digit service life.
When I run depreciation on those manually created assets, the resulting depreciation expense, acc depreciation, remailing service life, NBV are all correct.
Here's my problem: When I try to "Import" the Book data via Excel, GP halts because it does not recognize a service life with 3 digits.
Is there something in the import function that needs to be tweaked? An issue with the macro?
HELP!
Good Day
So the Original Life in Years field by design holds 2 digits.
I would assume the macro would only be able to do this as well.
This I think would have to be something that is manually updated after the fact.
You may be able to use some other import tool, but, the built in tool looks to be limited to 2 digits for the year.
Thanks
Dean
Hi Almas,
Yes, I was told by our GP consultant to select "Run Macro after creation"
When I import an asset with a service life of 120 years, the service life field in GP is populated as 012.
See import screenshot below.
Are you using macro to import?
