Hi:

Does Business Central not show quantity allocation, for an inventoried item, like GP does?

Thanks!

I don't know of a single quantity allocation field in BC. However, If you look on the Item card you'll find a nice inventory breakdown of totals across multiple things:
      Inventory Quantity
      Qty. on Purch. Order
      Qty. on Prod. Order
      Qty. on Component Lines
      Qty. on Sales Order
      Qty. on Service Order
      Qty. on Project Order
      Qty. on Assembly Order
      Qty. on Asm Component

If you decide to use the Reservations feature then you'll be able to reserve Item quantities for various forms of demand. Then you'll be able to visit the Reservation Entries page to see what forms of demand all the reservations are for. There are also ways to lookup availability, such as Inventory by Location and more.

Sometimes what we do is sum up the Remaining Quantity column in the Item Ledger Entries in a spreadsheet report, and then subtract the amount on Sales Order, Component Lines, etcetera.

Additionally, there is a new analysis page in BC28.

    Hello John,
BC does show it, but not in the same simple “quantity allocated” style GP users expect; in Business Central this is split across availability, reservations, and warehouse allocations: you’ll usually look at Item Availability pages, Reservation Entries, and if warehousing is used, the Qty. Allocated in Warehouse field on the Reservation page; so the answer is basically yes, the concept exists, but BC shows it through reservation/availability logic rather than one obvious allocation field on the item.

    Hello,

I think the Item Card has fields that show the allocated quantity for a particular item, as you can see in the images below:

You can also use Assist button next to Inventory field to Open Location wise Inventory of Item.

Also in BC 28 there is a new page called Item statistics which you can refer:

Mark this as Verified if it was Helpful.

Initially I will say have a look on the
    • Item Card
    • Item Availability By Report
      • Event
      • Location
      • Variant
      • ETC...
    • Bin Content if using Warehouse
    • Item Statistics
    • Item Availability ( Remember this is a part of Sales Order Agent)
