Should the DefaultDimension of Customer in Invoice Journal and Payment Journal be same?

Hi,

The default dimensions that we enter in a customer payment journal for a customer, should it be identical to the dimensions entered in the invoice journal for the same customer for the same invoice?
What happens if they are different? Does it mean, the accounting of those dimensions is not proper?

    Hi MYGz,

    They don't have to be the same. If you do a settlement between the payment and the open invoice, there will be an automatic process which will create additional ledger transactions to clear differences per dimension.

    And the payment dimensions default to come from the customer.

    In the Russia localization, there is a parameter called 'inherit invoice dimensions'.

    Hi André,

    If say, there's a customer C001 with following transactions:

    InvoiceID in InvoiceJournal : "INVOICE_001"

    1st line  C001  Dr. 200 -- Default dimensions 10-30 (Branch-Region). Offset Ledger Account 101 Cr. 200.

    2nd line C001  Dr. 200 -- Default dimensions 20-40 (Branch-Region). Offset Ledger Account 101 Cr. 200.

    Payment Journal

    "RECEIPTNO_001" to be settled with "INVOICE_001":

    Only 1 line: C001 Cr. 400-- Customer Default dimensions 10-30 (Branch-Region). Offset Bank Account Bank01 Dr. 400.

    Will the dimensions 20-40 in line2 auto settle?

    Hi MYGz,

    Yes. This will be corrected.

    There will be a posting to settle 200 on Default dimensions 10-30 (Branch-Region) and Default dimensions 20-40 (Branch-Region). You can also test it yourself to see what is actually the result.
