Cannot Type in Navision

Hello,

I am having trouble typing on the item card, item journals, etc. in Navision. I am not sure why this keeps happening. Sometimes it last for about an hour and then I have the ability to type in Navision again. During my down time in Navision, I can still type in other programs on my PC.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Vishal,

    No, there is no error message.

    I thought maybe I had the 'Insert' key or the 'Num Lock' key applied on my key board, but since I can type in other programs, this doesn't seem to be the case.

    My best guess is that you have either issues with connection to the server, where you are loosing that and system hangs for a while; or, there is some batch job process in the background that is running and you are trying to access the same table/resources so it hangs and waits.

    What would happen if you physically will terminate NAV and run it again, would you succeed in typing then?

    Is every one facing similar issue in your organisation?

    Is it showing any error message on screen or in Event Viewer?

    Alexander,

    Yes, I can still navigate through other windows and use my mouse. The system is not hung up. For some reason I cant type in Navision at all. However, I can type in Excel, Outlook, etc. I thought this may be some weird Navision glitch? After an hour or so, I have no trouble anymore and I can continue to type in Navision again.

    What do you mean by "not able to type"? Does NAV system hangs totally? Can you operate with other NAV windows during this time? Can you still operate with the NAV menu buttons using mouse but you are not able to type?

    What do you mean by you can type on NAV? What exactly happens in your screen?

    Is your screen goes in Not Responding Mode or facing table locking error ?

    I have seen at times, when you run "Adjust Cost Item Entries" Batch job during office hours, system tries to pass various entries and hence users will face "Table Locking" error and hence not able to do any changes in various screens. Are you talking about this?
