I want to create a general journal by "General Ledger -> General Journal -> New ",

but when I click the "New" button, the Journal Batch Number is created as "00480", There has alerady been the "00480" in the system,

so I can't create any new general journal.

I think the next Journal number should start from 00620 as the below picture. ( or start with 006XX)

can you tell me how to fix the journal number which is created automatically?

    Hi RongYan,

    https://www.dynamicsmanuals.com/blog/cannot-create-a-record-in-ledger-journal-table-ledgerjournaltable

    Above is the explanation.

Tl;Dr version press alt and delete to remove the number from the status list of the journal batch number sequence.

    Hi RongYan,

What Ties mentioned will help resolve the issue. Do know this can't be replicated all the time and happens occasionally with continuous number sequences. If you are able to replicate this consistently after clearing the record, open case with MS.

    Thanks,

    This is true.

Though number 480 for journal batch relates to a contoso environment, have had that error so many times that it was actually the inspiration for the post.

    Hi RongYan,

    Have you solved this issue?

    Is your environment a VHD?

If so, please try to clear the option ‘Continuous’ in related Journal batch number sequences form. If the system becomes normal after doing this step, you can select the option ‘Continuous’ again.

Do you really need continuous journal batch numbers?

For journal vouchers, I can understand that some countries require continuous journal voucher numbers but the journals itself can usually have any number as long as it is not a duplicate.

Also consider that over time you have to 'clean' the journal batch numbers. Otherwise, they will just grow and make your system slow.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ties Philippi  & Others

    thanks very much!

After I delete the sequence in the status list by "alt+delete", I can get the right sequence number now.

It's not work that delete the sequence in the table brower, the error is that "there is line data you can not delete", maybe it needs change some business data. So I selected the easy way as above.
