Service order Error: Gen Posting Setup Does not exist

(0) ShareShare

I have an error;

Gen Posting Setup Does not exist. Identification fields an values: Gen. Bus. Postig Group =CA. Gen Prod. Posting Group="

On my "General Posting Setup" page I cannot set a configuration for a Bus. Posting group of "CA" and a blank Gen. Prod. Posting Group. It will not let me.

I know that the Service Order is looking for a specific General Posting group. Where can I change the General Posting Group for service orders?

I think it's saying that it's looking on the Gen Posting Setup page for a record that has "CA" for the Gen. Bus. Posting Group and a [blank] for the Gen. Prod. Posting Group because the Service Order has an Item that does not have a Gen. Prod. Posting Group setup on the Item card.

In other words one of the Items you have on the Service Order is missing it's Gen. Prod. Posting Group, and because of that NAV is trying to find a matching record on the Gen Posting Setup page (with a [blank] for a Gen. Prod. Posting Group).

So make sure your Item setup is not missing the Gen. Prod. Posting Group... check the Item card.

    Hi Addision,

    In [YourCompany]/Departments/Administration/Application Setup/Financial Management/Posting Groups

    "General Posting Setup"

Or just type " General Posting Setup" in Search bar

    -------------------------------------------------------

Create a new setup line with relevant  General Business Posting Group and General Product posting group( in your case Gen. Bus. Postig Group =CA and Gen Prod. Posting Group=" .... '' means blank), Depending upon the Product and Business Group being used in your transaction system is searching the relevant Setup for posting....

That was my first thought. However, I have two items and they both have a Gen. Prod. Posting Group selected correctly. I also have a resource and that has the correct posting group.

Finally I have a "cost" that is mileage which does not have a setting for the Gen Prod. Posting Group. I assume because it is a service cost.

I have tracked down the issue but I do not know where to correct it.

First let me state how I found the problem in case anyone else needs it. To begin with on the "Service Lines Worksheet" I noticed a "Service Lines Filter"  somehow some of my service lines were no longer showing, when I changed the filter drop down list to "All" my hidden service lines reappeared.

Now, to determine what service was causing a problem with the Gen Prod. Posting group, I selected each service and posted it individually one by one. Eventually I came to the service that was giving me the same error I received when I was trying to post the service invoice all at once.  In this case the problem was a service "Cost".

I do not know where to setup the "Gen Prod Posting Group" for these "Service Lines" of type "Cost".

    Does anyone have any idea?

You have to setup cost accordingly to your costing GA code .

Another clue, I've noticed that you have to have to duplicate your Posting Group Setup filling the same with "blank" setup .

    Marco,

Thank you for understanding my problem. Now, the question I have is  a). Where do I set the "Cost" G/L code?    b). How do I set the product posting group to " " (blank). The software will not let me set a blank Product Posting Group.

So therefore, I would need to find out how to set one to blank, or I would need to change the specific Product Posting Group for the "Cost" Service Items type category to a different Product Posting Group. I can't figure out how to accomplish either of these.

    Hello,

can you post a screenshot of your Inventory Posting Group and General Posting Setup  in order to find the specific issue ?

    now it's more clear :D

IMHO , you should create lines for all Gen. Prod. posting group with blank Gen. Bus. posting group.

And even create for all the invt. posting group codes in your inventory posting setup lines with blank location. This solved my issues in similar companies like yours.

About costing, you shold have under your G/L Account List a code specific for "Service" : you should then populate the Genenral Posting Group line about service setup accordingly to this G/L Accounts. Hope this help!
