We started out implementing AX2012 Project management and accounting at one of our business units, and by the second realized that we had too many Category groups and streamlined them for the remaining 14 business units. We'd like to now maintain the Category group on the Project categories in the first BU to match the rest to make global reporting easier. Is there a front end method of doing this? When I look at the Project categories, the field for Category group is greyed out and I see no Function or option to maintain it.

this is right.
when you setup categories you have to associate them to a category group that cannot be changed later on.
the best option is creating new categories especially if you used the v existing ones for postings already.
