Power BI need role of system administrator?

Hello Experts,

can you pls guide me about Power BI, if a user has basic role in D365 FO like just can see a single report only,

and we ask him to use power BI, any changes need in his role? Power BI user need to have system administrator role in D365?

Hi Yasir,

It is not desirable to grant a Power BI user access to the system administrator role in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. It would be too risky to provide just normal users the system administrator role. So, the answer to your question is 'No'.

I assume you're referring to the Embedded Power BI analytics in F&O. Access to the various Workspace analytics is via existing security roles. You'll need to research which security roles control access to the workspace analytics.

thanks for your response, can you pls tell me which is the best role i can attach with this user which has only read access and also has no access on reports in D365.

Hi Yasir,

Can you elaborate on the full situation here? Are you using Power BI online or the embedded analytics? What exact Power BI report?

Hi Yasir,

Below images shows the list of Display menu items related to power bi objects. Check whether you can make use of it, assign these menu item to your custom privileges and check if it works.

Dear Girish,

i have already done this...but this only give access of tab "Deploy PowerBI files" which is just under the tab of "powerBi.com configuration"

the above menu item did not help me to get out this issue
