Auditing in Portals

Hey all, might be a simple rtfm question, but Google hasn't turned it up for me yet.

If I want to see which portal user made which changes to a record at a particular time, can I see that in any way in the CRM audit log of the entity? Or somewhere else? I see that we can audit/log page views, but we're more interested in who did what and when.

Any thoughts?

    Hey Jason,

CRM Portals always run in the context of one user only who had been configured at the time of Portal Hosting.

So user-level auditing is not possible in CRM Portal, though you can enable Page-Tracking option on each portal webpage in order to logs/track when a user views a webpage in a web browser. The date/time, user's IP Address is logged along with the identity of the user viewing the page.

If the user is authenticated, the log will be associated with the Contact record related to the user, otherwise the anonymous identity is recorded.

Can visit below link to configure this feature in portals:

Mark this an answer, If it helps.

    RE: Auditing in Portals

    Hi Jason,

While you can turn on the CRM audit log for pretty much any entity, it won't be able to tell you which portal user made the change.  Operations performed by portal users will show up in the audit logs as being done by the "SYSTEM" user. There is no portal-specific auditing functionality (except for URL History, which is not what you are looking for in this case).

So you can see what was done, and when, but not by whom.

Sorry - probably not the answer you were looking for.

    Nick
