Hi all,

Quite new to this Dynamics 365 licensing. Anyhow, would appreciate that someone could provide me guide or link to access to the pricing for Retail.

As far I know and attended seminar for Dynamics 365 licensing, it does not mention about retail. Are they the same or different?

Please enligthen me.

Thanks in advance.

Is the whole "Retail and Commerce" section missing in the on-premise version? I haven't worked with Retail but scanned over it and some of the functionality there sounds like it could be quite useful to "non-retail" distributors without physical stores as well (e.g. catalogs, online stores). Thx.

see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/deployment/on-premises-overview just above fig 1 it says

“Retail Server is not supported in on-premises deployments at this time.”

Similarly this is mentioned in the  System requirements doc on p12..

Ax 2012 Retail and D365 have quite different architectures

On premise will need to be closer to Ax 2012 Retail architecture, so given the recent change of heart with on-premise it's not surprising that this is not yet available. However, I share your concerns.

    Hi Ola,

There is no statement from Microsoft when they will release on-premise support for retail. You can monitor the link you provided yourself or the roadmap page for updates: https://roadmap.dynamics.com/

Hi magic1949, could you tell more about "Retail on premise is not yet supported in  D 365FO"?

I know that retail is on that list: https://docs.microsoft.com/pl-pl/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/get-started/features-not-implemented-on-prem?toc=/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/toc.json

but maybe someone know about any roadmap and real status for this functionality in on-premises deployments?

Is there really no functionality for retail yet?

    Thanks in advance.

To access Ax needs a CAl.

Users can have their own CAL e.g. Activity or Enterprise, and that entitles them to use a WMS mobile as well as to access Ax via other devices.

However if more than one user is to use a device e.g. when working across shifts for WMS, or sharing the same POS in retail, and the users only needs access to the specific POS or WMS mobile features, then licensing the  device  is more cost effective - because the same device can be used by many users in turn. However unless they have another individual CAL, then they can only work through that device.

Ok, Thanks. Another question, this type of licensing is the same that we will need to use for WMS Device?

No store server is = needed in D 365FO on line - but POS device license price has been increased by the same amount as the store server license.

Retail on premise is not yet supported in  D 365FO

    Hi André,

For Dyn365 Onpremise We will need only 1 Dynamics 365 for Operations Device for each Store?

In AX2012 for each store, We need 1 Task Device and 1 Store Server.

    Thanks a lot.
